Fischer's Benoni Tames the Wolf
"Chess is a matter of delicate judgment, knowing when to punch and when to duck."This is an instructive chess game between Wolfgang Uhlmann and Bobby Fischer from the 1970 Palma de Mallorca Interzonal. Out of the Benoni Defense, we reach a critical middlegame after Fischer's 11th move Re8. The question becomes how best to defend the e4 pawn. Uhlmann's choice turns out to be flawed, and Fischer pounces with a sharp tactical shot that demands accurate calculation across several lines.
